HOW TO FLUSH A CAR RADIATOR

Rust and sludge don't just form in your engine - your cooling system can fall victim as well. That's why regularly flushing your radiator is another vital element of car maintenance - one that many hands-on car owners often overlook. Your car's cooling system protects it from the extreme heat generated by the engine and keeps the engine itself operating within the proper temperature range. Keeping the cooling system free of rust, buildup and contaminants will help keep it and your engine in top working condition.

Fortunately, you don't need to flush your radiator quite so often as you need to change your oil (once every 2 years should suffice), but it's just as easy to do.
Just follow the Expert's easy step-by-step how-to!

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Antifreeze (1-2 gallons or 4-8 liters)
Distilled water (1-2 gallons or 4-8 liters) * The water must be distilled
A drainage pan or bucket
A garden hose with a nozzle
A pair of work gloves (preferably waterproof)
A soft bristle nylon brush
A bucketful of sudsy water

STEP 1 - GET STARTED
First and foremost, make certain that your engine is cold. A hot engine means hot coolant under very high pressure trapped in the radiator - and a possible scalding for you when you remove the radiator cap. Cold water can also damage a hot engine

STEP 2 - CLEAN THE RADIATOR
Raise and securely fasten the engine hood to avoid accidental slippage. Then use your nylon brush and sudsy water to gently scrub away the dead bugs and debris that have collected on the radiator grill. Be sure to scrub in the direction of the radiator fins and not against, as the metal is fragile and can easily be bent out of shape. Once the grill is clear, direct a gentle stream of water from the hose over it to ensure that all debris is completely gone.
Though you only have to flush your radiator once every two years, it's a good idea to clean the radiator grill every 12,000 miles or so.

STEP 3 - PLACE THE DRAIN PAN
Proper drainage of the used coolant is very important. Coolant is highly toxic but has a sweet smell that's attractive to children and animals. It should not be left to drain unattended and should never be allowed to drain onto the ground. Make sure that the pan you use won't be used for any kitchen purposes - a disposable pan is ideal. The pan should also be small enough so that it fits easily under your car.
Once you have found the perfect pan, slide it into place under your car and center it under the radiator's drain valve (also known as a petcock).

STEP 4 - CHECK THE RADIATOR CAP
The radiator cap acts as a lid for the radiator, sealing and pressurizing the coolant within to keep the engine cool. The coolant pressure varies from engine to engine, and the pressure rating is indicated on the top of the cap itself.
A radiator cap consists of a spring coil stretched between a wide, flat metal top and a smaller rubber seal on the bottom. The tension between the spring and the rubber seal is what enables the cap to maintain pressure, so if it is easy to compress the two, the cap is worn out and should be replaced. Another sign to replace the cap is any rust or drying of the rubber seal. In general, the cap should be replaced at least every two years, so you may want to make it part of your routine when flushing the radiator. Remember, there are different caps for different pressure ratings, so always keep the rating number in your car's records.

STEP 5 - CHECK THE CLAMPS AND HOSES
The next step is to check the radiator's hoses and clamps. There are two hoses: one at the top of the radiator that drains hot coolant from the engine and one at the bottom that bathes the engine with cold coolant. The radiator must be drained in order for the hoses to be replaced, so checking them before you flush the engine is always a good idea. This way, if you find signs that the hoses are cracked or leaking or the clamps look rusty, you can change them before refilling the radiator. A soft, mushy consistency is a good indication that you need new hoses, and if you find any of these signs in only one hose, it is still a good idea to replace both.

STEP 6 - DRAIN THE OLD COOLANT
The radiator's drain valve (or petcock) should have a handle that makes it simple to open. Simply unscrew the petcock (while wearing your work gloves - coolant is toxic, remember) and allow the coolant to flow out into the drain pan you placed underneath your vehicle in Step 4. Once all the fluid has drained, replace the petcock and funnel the used coolant into the sealable container you have set aside for the purpose. Then place the drain pan back under the petcock.

STEP 7 - RINSE THE RADIATOR
Now you're ready to do the actual rinsing! Simply take your garden hose, insert it's nozzle into the fill spout of the radiator, and let it run until full. Then open the petcock, and let the water drain out into the pan. Repeat until the water runs clear and be sure to funnel all the water used in the rinsing process into sealable containers, as you did with the used coolant. At this point, you should replace any worn clamps and hoses, if needed

STEP 8 - ADD COOLANT
The ideal coolant mixture is composed of 50-percent antifreeze and 50-percent water. Distilled water should be used in the formula, as it is free of the minerals in tap water that could denature the coolant mixture and prevent it from properly doing its job. You can mix the ingredients beforehand in a clean container or pour them in directly. Most radiators will hold roughly two gallons of fluid, so it should be easy to judge the amount you will need to use.

STEP 9 - BLEED THE COOLING SYSTEM
Finally, it will be necessary to bleed out the pockets of air that may have settled in the cooling system. Start your engine with the radiator cap off (to avoid buildup of pressure) and let it run for approximately 15 minutes. Then turn on your heater, and turn it up to hot. This will circulate the coolant and allow any trapped air along with it to dissipate. Once the air is released, the space that it took up will be gone, leaving room for a little more coolant, which you can now add. Be careful, however, the air releasing from the radiator can bubble up and be quite hot.
Then simply replace the cap and wipe off any excess fluid with a rag.

STEP 10 - CLEAN UP AND DISPOSAL
Check for any leaks or spills from the petcock, dispose of rags, old clamps and hoses, and your disposable drain pan. Now you're almost good to go.
It is just as important to dispose of used coolant properly as it is to dispose of used oil. Once again, the smell and color of used coolant makes it especially appealing to children, so don't let it sit around long. Transport those containers to the nearest recycling center that handles hazardous materials without delay! Changing a transmission's fluid and filter is a little more involved than simply changing your oil, but no more difficult. If you can change your engines oil and filter, you can change your transmission's fluid and filter.

Transmission fluid

1.Allow the vehicle to cool completely before beginning work. Apply the parking brake. Raise the vehicle on one side with the floor jack. Place a jack stand under the vehicle at a solid support point such as a frame rail. Slowly lower the floor jack so the vehicle rests on the jack stand. Repeat for the other side of the vehicle.

2. Place the drain pan under the transmission and remove the drain plug from the transmission pan using the appropriately sized socket wrench, and allow the fluid to drain completely. After it has stopped draining, replace the drain plug in the transmission pan and tighten it securely.

3. Remove the bolts from the transmission pan using the socket wrench.

4. Carefully pry the pan away from the transmission using the flat head screwdriver. The pan will still have some fluid inside, so use caution not to spill it and set it to the side.

5. Clean the gasket surface of the transmission where the pan was removed. Remove all traces of gasket material and wipe it clean with a clean cloth.

6. Pour any remaining fluid in the transmission pan into the drain pan and clean the pan thoroughly. Wipe all pan surfaces dry with a clean cloth.

7. Remove the filter from the transmission valve body using the socket set or screwdriver depending upon the model, being careful not to damage any parts of the valve body, and throw it away.

8. Install the new filter and its seal onto the valve body, insert its bolts, and tighten it down firmly with the socket wrench. Some filters have the seal already installed on the filter, simplifying the process.

9. Install the new pan gasket onto the transmission pan. Put the pan in place against the transmission, and install the pan bolts. Tighten each bolt a little at a time in succession, working your way around the pan. Finish by tightening them all down to the manufacturer's listed torque specifications.

10. Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and add transmission fluid. Four quarts is typically a good quantity to start with, but check with your model's owners' manual to make sure you won't overfill the transmission at that level.

11. Start the vehicle and let it idle. Holding the brake pedal down, move the gear selector through the gears then back into the park position and allow the vehicle to idle for two more minutes in park.

12. Turn off the vehicle and check the transmission fluid level. It will be low, so add fluid until it reaches the correct levels on the dipstick. Do not overfill. Check under the vehicle for leaks after a short trip, and check the fluid again after the vehicle has reached full operating temperature, adding fluid if necessary.

Transmission Filter Replacement

Transmissions are hydraulically controlled components, and therefore use fluid to build the required pressure and to prevent overheating. Although new transmission fluid is clean, the internal components of the transmission are not. As the fluid travels throughout the transmission, it collects various deposits. The fluid is then routed to a filter, which removes those contaminants. As with any other type of filter, the filter itself eventually becomes dirty and it can no longer filter the fluid. For this reason, the transmission's filter must periodically be replaced.

Safety Considerations
A hot transmission can produce transmission fluid hot enough to easily burn skin, so allow the vehicle to sit for at least three hours while the engine is turned off to allow the fluid to cool. Raise the vehicle with a floor jack, then place a single jack stand at each corner of the vehicle underneath the vehicle's frame to safely support the vehicle's weight.

Removing the Transmission's Pan
To access the filter, the transmission's pan must be removed. However, because the transmission is full of fluid, it is necessary to first drain the fluid. Place a drain pan underneath the transmission pan, then remove the single drain bolt from the transmission's pan with a wrench and allow the fluid to drain into the drain pan. The transmission's pan is located on the bottom of the transmission. After the fluid has drained out of the transmission, install and tighten the pan's drain bolt with a wrench to avoid losing it. Remove the bolts that surround the lip of the pan with a wrench by turning each bolt in a counterclockwise direction, then pull the pan off of the transmission to reveal the transmission's filter.

Replacing the Transmission Filter
Once the transmission's pan is removed, changing the pan is simply a matter of disconnecting the old filter and bolting a new filter in its place. Remove the filter's retaining bolts with a wrench, then pull the filter out of the transmission. The filter is a large metal plate that typically has a near-rectangular shape, depending on the type of transmission. Place the replacement filter against the bottom of the transmission, ensuring that the bolt holes on the filter align with the bolt holes on the bottom of the transmission. Install and tighten the filter's retaining bolts with a wrench.

Installing the Transmission Pan
Installing the pan is fairly straightforward, but it is important that a new gasket be used. Peel the transmission's old pan gasket from the outer lip of the pan, then wipe down the lip of the pan with a clean, lint-free rag. Coat one side of the pan's gasket with gasket sealer, then place the coated side of the gasket against the lip of the transmission's pan. Coat the opposite side of the gasket with gasket sealer, then press the pan against the bottom of the transmission, ensuring that the bolt holes on the pan align with the holes on the transmission. Install and tighten the pan's retaining bolts with a wrench.

Filling the Transmission with Fluid
Consult the vehicle's owner's manual to determine how much transmission fluid should be added to the transmission, then lift the vehicle's hood and withdraw the transmission's dipstick. Place a funnel into the dipstick tube, then pour the appropriate amount of transmission fluid into the funnel. Remove the funnel and insert the dipstick back into the dipstick tube to complete the replacement.

How to Clean Your Air Box and Replace Your Air Filter

If you want to do a quick and easy servicing to better your gas mileage, the air box is a cheap and effective place to get started. You first have to buy the stuff you will need. The two items you will need are a new air filter and a can of Throttle Body/Air Intake Cleaner.

The air filter, or air cleaner, sits right inside your air box. This is what filters the air before it is drawn into the engine. Once an air filter gets dirty and clogged it makes it harder for the engine to draw air, thereby reducing performance. This is why it is very important to keep a clean air filter. You can see in the picture the differences between the new air filter and the old one -- yuck! Look at how dirty the old one was, you can only imagine how it was reducing performance.
To remove the old filter on most fuel injected cars or trucks, simply loosen the clips around the air box. Lift off the top of the box and there's the filter.

Once you have pulled the old air filter you want to clean as much as you can inside the air box and intake system. Take the can of cleaner and spray around the air intake, pretty much the whole box, including the sensors. This is where some dirt and dust may have made it past an old air filter, and this is where you want it to be sparkling clean. No wiping! Just spraying.

You will want to install the new air filter exactly where the old one was. It should fit very easily and be a snug fit. Once you have installed the new Air Filter you want to close the air box back up. As the saying goes, "installation is the reverse of removal." Your air box servicing is now complete, your car will thank you.

How to Change Manual Transmission Fluid

Changing the fluid in a manual transmission according to the schedule suggested in your owner's manual can greatly extend the life of your transmission and increase its reliability. Before starting this job call your dealer with the vehicle identification number and ask which transmission lubricant is required for you car. In years past this step was not necessary, but in recent years a manual transmission fluid could be anything from automatic transmission fluid to 95-140w synthetic oil. Using the wrong transmission fluid (lubricant) could shorten the life of your transmission to a trip across town, so use what the dealer recommends. The dealer can also tell you how much to buy.

1. Jack the vehicle high enough to easily slide under it. Place jackstands or other solid supports under the frame of the vehicle before going under it. Make sure it is level and securely supported.

2. Locate the drain plug on the underside of the transmission. This will plug may have a recessed area for the removal tool or a raised area to be engaged with a wrench. If recessed the tool needed will be either a square drive, such as a ratchet wrench, or a hex, which will require a large hex drive socket or wrench.

3. Place the drain pan under the transmission and remove the drain plug. Turn the plug counterclockwise to remove. Allow to drain completely. This will be faster if the vehicle has been driven before this service is performed.

4. Clean the drain plug before reinstalling. It may be magnetic and have fine metal particles adhered to it. These clean off easiest by wiping the plug with a rag. Large pieces of metal adhered to the plug or in the drained fluid are an indication of severe wear or broken gears. If these are found your transmission will require attention by a professional transmission mechanic.

5. Wrap a turn or two of Teflon tape around the plug and reinstall it.

6. Locate the fill plug on the side of the transmission. This will be about halfway up on the side of the transmission case and will look like the drain plug. Remove this plug by turning in a counterclockwise direction.

7. Add the proper transmission fluid (lubricant) through the fill hole. Fill until the lubricant just starts coming back out of the hole.

8. Clean the fill plug, wrap with Teflon tape and reinstall.

9. Dispose of the used transmission lubricant in an approved manner. You should be able to return it to the store where you got the new lubricant.

Please make sure you have removed your previous security software (including prior versions of Kaspersky) in the Control Panel before installing Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 .

Read the Kaspersky Security Network Data Collection Statement. This allows us to detect and collect new viruses based on their behavior as well as non-personal data about how you use our software. The Kaspersky Security Network does not collect or process any personal information. Click Install.

You may see a notification from the Windows Security Center that there are problems while Kaspersky is still being installed. This is normal and will automatically resolve itself after the process completes.

Step 3 - Configuration Wizard:

If you did not previously have Kaspersky, or your previous license expired, you will be prompted to activate a commercial license.Enter your 20 character activation code, which is four sets of five characters, or XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. The wizard will automatically capitalize letters and move to the next box. Click Next.

Your activation code can be found on your order email, the back of the CD sleeve, or the Activation Card that is included in the DVD case.

If you are not asked to activate, the wizard has detected your existing valid license. Should you need to activate after the install completes, follow these steps to activate Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012.

After the license is activated, you will see the License type and Expiration date.

Click Finish to begin using Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012.

1. Get the most out of your router

It is well worth having a read of the manual that comes with your router. Admittedly it may not be the most riveting read but there will be settings you can tweak to get the most out of your router.

There’s more to getting the most out of a wireless router than just having the right one configured the right way. Where you place your wireless router is important too. The more objects between your router and your computer the weaker the signal will be when it reaches the computer. Objects like doors, walls and furniture can all reduce the signal strength that reaches your computer.

Ideally you should place your wireless router as close as possible to the computer and it should be high up, so there it is less likely that there will be objects in the way of the signal. Placing your router away from other electrical items, which could interfere with the signal, is a good idea too.

2. Don’t overload your bandwidth

Many people have programs running in the background that they don’t really need which eat up valuable bandwidth. There are many applications will start automatically when you start your computer and will take up bandwidth, sometimes unnecessarily.

Applications including messenger services, Skype and Media players could all be running concurrently and draining bandwidth. For applications you don’t use regularly you can usually change the settings so they do not automatically start when you switch your computer on. If you are unsure which applications are running you can check this by opening task manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL).

3. Don’t share bandwidth with others!

If you have a wireless broadband connection then you will get better speeds if you do not share it amongst multiple computers.

If you do have a wireless connection it is important, not just for speed reasons, to secure it (so a pass phrase is needed to access it), as this will not only stop unscrupulous neighbours stealing you internet connection, but having an unsecured connection may allow others to access personal information such as financial details and is a security risk.

4. Talk to your broadband provider

If your connection is still running slow it’s worth talking to your internet provider as they may be able to diagnose the problem. Furthermore if you are on an old broadband package which is no longer available, they may upgrade you to it’s more modern, faster replacement. For example the entry level package with many providers now offer up to 8Mbs speeds whereas you may have signed up to a 1Mbs or 2Mbs a number of years ago.

5. What about faster mobile broadband?

You can boost the speed of your mobile broadband connection with a few free or cheap tricks. One relatively cheap way to increase speeds is to improve the signal buy purchasing an antenna extension to clip on to your mobile broadband dongle which will boost the signal it receives.

Alternatively a USB lead will allow you to place your mobile broadband dongle nearer a window rather than just plugged directly into the USB port on your laptop (as signals are generally stronger outside).

Finally it’s always worth checking mobile broadband coverage in your area before signing up to a provider. You should be able to check coverage on the websites of any of the providers you are considering.

Want to make your PC run faster and smoother? These are some small tips which make great impact on the performance of your computer. Everybody wants a PC which runs the way we want. A newly bought computer just impresses you, with its fast interface, quick reactions, negligible garbage, in short just like what a new computer should.

But after using your computer for about a year or so, like me, you would also face some minor problems with your computer performance e.g. takes more time to boot up, hangs up very frequently, you see a large cluster of useless icons on your desktop, applications run slower, some even refuse to run. Innumerable problems are faced by all of us.

Now all of us won’t buy a new computer just for this reason, so what would you do? Format your hard disk? Probably, but who wants to lose precious data? There are many small things that PC users, don’t know about, or though being aware of them don’t prefer to use them as they require investment of time. And who has free time? Well then, what to do?

I am going to tell you, what I do to my own PC, to achieve the performance level I want from it. This doesn’t require much effort to follow these simple tips, nor do they require much time, but surely they increase our PC performance, your PC would surely run smoother and faster.

Make Computer Faster

First of all, don’t ever fill your desktop with shortcut icons or data folders or files. Keep your desktop as clean as possible. If possible, don’t place shortcut of applications on your desktop, just run them from the start menu. This would vastly speed up your startup process.
Keep your C: drive; or whichever partition your OS is installed to, as clean and defragmented as possible. I personally prefer not to install most of the programs on my C: drive. Because this is the drive where your important OS files are present, and whatever space is left on the drive is used as virtual memory, so less the garbage on your OS drive, faster your computer would run.
Use least visual enhancements on your desktop. That means, to reduce the use of desktop gadgets, which takes loads of memory usage. Also using a simple theme is best. Animated desktop themes, screensavers or wallpapers obviously take more memory usage from your hands. So keeping it simple makes the difference.
If you are regular internet user, then consider using the “Clear Cache” function of your browser, to clear temporary offline data saved by the browser – this clears up some considerate amount of temporary data. Also regularly clear browser history and cookies.
Update your antivirus regularly, preferably every two or three days. Worms and malwares are a very common reason due to which your computer runs slower than usual, that is because worms duplicate themselves and fill your disk with useless, corrupt data and also occupies a large amount of your available memory.
Make it a habit to clear %temp% and %tmp% folders of your PC every day. They contain temporary files which you can freely delete to gain some small but considerable amount of disk space.
Use Disk Defragmenter and Disk Cleanup on a regular basis.
One piece of advice from me is not to use any disk cleaning utilities available on the net unless they are from trusted owners. Because, it is true that they help you gain some more disk space and gain some speed from your PC but most of their work can be done manually by users, so they just take some useless space on your disk.
After installing any program, they take up some space on your disk, also on your registry. I suggest not installing any program which you consider ‘use and throw’ because even after uninstalling them, some of their remains still linger on your PC, which also affects your PC performance.
Regularly delete all the contents of your ‘Recent’ folder. This folder contains shortcut to your recently used documents and programs. These shortcuts are just useless garbage which you should clear on daily basis.
To speed up the boot time, disable any useless startup programs fromMSConfig utility.
Delete contents of your recycle bin to gain some more disk space.
TeraCopy is one of the best programs to speed up file copying. I personally prefer using this program.
Using external DNS servers such as OpenDNS, boosts your internet speed up to some extent.
Select “Adjust for best performance” setting on the Performance tab in System Properties.

These are some small tips which I prefer following and I know the results. If you are completely fed up with your PC performance, then you should try reformatting your hard disk partition. That would surely do it. But if you just want to continue with your PC for a long time, then from the very beginning, follow these steps regularly and you’ll see the impact of these minor steps in a major way.

Google Ends Search Traffic to Parked Domain Names

A new Google algorithm update heralds the end of Google traffic toparked domain names. Many domainers and webmasters usually park hundreds of keyword rich domain names and monetize them through advertising programs like GoDaddy Cash Parking and Google Adsense for Domains.

Google Search has revealed that this new update brings in a new classifier which will affect parked domain traffic.

New “parked domain” classifier: This is a new algorithm for automatically detecting parked domains. Parked domains are placeholder sites that are seldom useful and often filled with ads. They typically don’t have valuable content for our users, so in most cases we prefer not to show them.

A parked domain name displays a temporary web page when people type your domain name in a web browser. People usually park domain names till they decide to create a website, find a hosting provider, or simply to hold and sell domain names later. Till then most decide to make money online with the page, which might draw some Google traffic at least.

If you look around at parked domain names, typically they are keyword rich for targeting specific traffic and have no useful content. Moreover, while the domain is parked, domain owners decide to install advertising programs, which also brings in advertising revenue on the side. Since the parked domain page is full of ads only, there is a high chance the visitor who reaches such a page will click through and make money for the domain owner.

Many domain name registrars offer domain parking monetization services. GoDaddy Cash Parking is a service from Godaddy domain registrar, which displays ads on parked domains and domain owners can earn 60-80% of the ad revenue. They charge $4-$5 per month for the basic plan service.Google Adsense for Domains is another free popular program by Google, where domain owners can display Adsense ads on their parked domain names to earn free money.

Software developers have begun updating their software to add support for Windows 8. The developers of CPU-Z utility recently released CPU-Z version 1.59 with support for latest Windows 8 operating system. With this release, CPU-Z software now officially supports the latest iteration of Windows OS.

For those who are not familiar with CPU-Z, it’s a free utility which gathers your PC’s hardware information and displays in an easy-to-understand interface. With CPU-Z, you can get detailed information on processor, motherboard, memory, SPD, caches, and graphic cards.

The simple user interface displays information in separate tabs. Under CPU tab you can find information about CPU name and model, code name, package, technology, core voltage, core speed, bus speed, number of cores, and threads.

The Mainboard tab shows motherboard manufacturer name, model number, chipset manufacturer and chipset name, BIOS brand, BIOS date, graphic interface version and max supported and some other useful information related to the motherboard.

Under Memory tab you can find information about memory type, size, number of channels, DRAM frequency, and latency information.

Information on graphics card(s) can be found under Graphics tab. Here you can find GPU name, code name, technology, revision, clock speed, and memory size information. To know more about installed memory switch to SPD tab. Download as MP3 option is also available when the music file is in a different format. This feature comes in handy when you want to download a audio files in MP3 format.

The best thing about this tool is that it allows you listen to a music file without downloading it. Simply right-click on a search result and click Listen to start streaming the music file in your default media player.

The Preview option enables you listen to the music before actually downloading it. This option is available only for two or three search engines, though.

Installing the Application

Please connect your mobile device to the computer. Then follow the installation instructions below that correspond to the Operating System on your mobile device.

Windows Mobile Installation (Windows Mobile 5.0, 6.0, 6.1, or 6.5)

If you purchased the application on CD, locate the CAB file within the Windows Mobile link on the CD.
If you purchased the application over the Internet, download the installation file:

Many owners are surprised to find out how playful their rabbits are. Most rabbits will appreciate a selection of fun toys, which can be as simple as a cardboard box or empty paper towel roll.
Toys will help keep your rabbit physically active and prevent boredom. A bored rabbit is much more likely to become destructive or even depressed and overweight. Deprived of toys and play things, your rabbit may turn to your furniture and other belongings as chew toys, or even dangerous things like electrical cords. Experiment with a variety of toys to find out what is entertaining to your rabbit, and continue to provide new toys (or at least rotate the ones he/she has).

While a good selection of toys will help keep your rabbit away from things you do not want him or her chewing on, the toys you provide must be safe too. If your rabbit is interested in eating one type (e.g. plastic, cardboard, etc.) of toy, switch to another type. Watch for soft rubber items or plastic parts that can be eaten and cause gastrointestinal problems or blockages. While your rabbit will likely enjoy shredding paper and cardboard, make sure he/she is not ingesting much of it.

A huge variety of items can make good rabbit toys. You might not find them marketed as rabbit toys, and some are things you will have around the house. Be creative and pay attention to how your rabbit seems to like to play, and you may come up with ideas of your own (just pay close attention to safety). Some ideas:

cardboard tubes from toilet paper and paper towel rolls
paper bags
cardboard boxes (especially a closed box with two or three rabbit sized entrance holes cut in the sides)
cardboard concrete forms or large PVC pipes for tunnels (make sure bunny can't get stuck!)
untreated wicker baskets or other wicker items (a wicker tunnel other items are available at the online stores listed below)
hard plastic cat balls with a bell inside (make sure your bunny isn't chewing up and swallowing the plastic though)
hard plastic baby toys such as rings, links, keys, rattles, etc.
parrot toys and bells
kitty condos (the shorter ones), tunnels, platforms

small straw whisk broom
straw balls ( you can get the ones meant as hamster houses; for added enjoyment fill with timothy hay)

Tapak projek alfalfa!

ni lah tapak projek alfalfa aku.. start tanam 16/4/2011 aritu.

pic ni aku ambik ptg 16/4, aku tanam pagi 16/4 tu.. lepas siap tanam je, ujan selebat2 membawa sampai ke ptg.. taktau la ape jadi ngan benih alfalfa tu..

cerita pasal tapak projek aku ni, ukuran keluasannye adelah lebih kurang 2 x 1 meter persegi(main petik je ni.. batas ni plak dah seminggu sebelum tu aku gemburkan dicampur ngan baja dari sisa arnab(nak bagi super subur kononnye..

setakat arini, aku sendiri pun tak tau ape dah jadi ngan tapak projek aku ni sebab lum ade mase nak gi tengok.. dah la tiap2 ari ujan je, lebat plak tu.. ujung minggu ni baru nak gi tengok, harap2 keputusannye positif la..

nantikan keputusannye...

seminggu kemudian....

camni la rupenye lepas seminggu.. nak ckp byk pun takleh, haluss je.. tunggu la pulak update lagi 2 minggu..

Ni selepas 3 minggu. Tinggi lebih kurang 4-5cm.. lambat plak nak besar..

ni la hasilnye lepas 2 bulan.. penat ooo menunggu, rase macam dah lame sangat.. rumput dah 3 kali mak aku mesin, tapi pokok ni macam tak besar2 je aku rase.. isk isk isk bile la boleh pungut hasil agaknye...

Napier India

Ni plak tapak projek napier india aku.. aku main cucuk ikut suka tekak n senang aku je.. dah seminggu gak cucuk, minggu lepas segan nak up kat blog takut tak jadi.. Ape pun aku nak ucapkan ribuan terima kasih pada En. Shah (arnabkus) kerana beliau telah menghadiahkan aku lebih kurang 60 ruas benih napier india ni(susah nak cari org pemurah cam beliau ni zaman sekarang..)

Pic ni aku ambik lepas 4 ari aku cucuk ruas2 napier india ni, mase tu tengok macam taknak idup je semue..

semue jadi macam kering, lebih kurang macam tebu busuk.. aku ingat tak betul dah care aku cucuk tu.. orang ckp nak senang hidup gembur kan tanah dulu. aku plak bukan main rajin, rumput pun aku tak buang.. aku cucuk je celah2 rumput tu.. tawakal jelah..

Apa pun, lepas seminggu aku gi tengok (dgn hati yg berdebar-debar) alhamdulillah, napier india aku ni dah mula tumbuh tunas.. kire berjaya la aku tanam napier india ni..

tak sabar plak nak tgk perkembangan napier india ni lepas 2 minggu..

harap2 pasni jgn la plak korang ramai2 gi pow En Shah benih napier india ni... hahah

Dah besar dah pokok napier india ni.. tak lame lagi dah boleh pungut hasil la ni.. hehhe

kat bawah ni plak pic terbaru napier india aku ni.. macam kurus je.. baru naik sikit aku dah potong bagi arnab makan..

Si Lupe

Si Lupe ni aku pinjam makcik aku punye rabbit.. makcik aku cakap si lupe ni jantan, aku pun cadang nak kawinkan la si lupe ni ngan rabbit aku.. sekali aku tengok si lupe ni betina la.. isk isk isk mak cik aku ingat si lupe ni jantan sebab die bela dah setahun lebih tapi tak beranak-ranak kot.. die ade 2 ekor, sekor lagi aku pun tak tau jantan ke betina sebab aku sendiri pun tak pernah gi tengok..

nak jadikan cerita, makcik aku suruh aku je bela si lupe ni bagi die beranak pinak kat rumah aku katenye.. baru masuk 2 minggu aku jage si lupe ni, harap2 ade la hasil nanti..

Giliran Si Baby Pulak

pada pagi khamis 16/6/2011, giliran si baby plak jadi ibu.. si baby ni dapat 5 ekor anak.. Si baby ni sejak pulih dari sakit(kurap), jadi garang.. sambil dah beranak pun masih garang lagi.. nak bagi makan dan minum pun koyak tangan aku dicakarnye.. ikutkan ati aku, ingat nak sembelih je.. nasib baik die sempat bagi aku "cucu" sebelum aku ilang sabar.. hehe

Kelahiran Pertama

Alhamdulillah..akhirnya penantian sekian lama berakhir jua..hehehe. Tanggal 14 Jun 2011 si Hitam selamat melahirkan 4 ekor baby yg comel-comel belaka.
Dua hitam dan dua lagi nmpk kemerah-merahan kadang2 nmpk mcm berkilat badannya. Entah apa agaknya kaler diorang bila besar nanti.

Tapi yang peliknya si Hitam mcm tak pedulikan sangat anak-anaknya, dia biar je baby2 tu dalam bakul dan tak nampak pun dia susukan. Risau juga takut baby2 tu kelaparan pula, then aku try letak anak2 tu kat ibu diorg tapi aku terpaksa pegang tangan dan kaki Hitam sb dia tak selesa dan nak lari. Bukan main gelojoh lagi baby2 tu cari nipple ibu dia n menyusu, gaknya sebab dah lapar sangat. Dalam 15 minit juga aku tolong susukan baby2 tu. Tak lama lepas tu semua tertidur kekenyangan..hehehe comel sangat tengok diorg bergolek-golek tidur. Aku harap semua anak-anak ni akan membesar dengan sihat dan comel. "Tahniah Hitam akhirnya berjaya juga kamu jadi ibu." Lepas ni tunggu giliran Kuning, Putih, Baby dan Mickey pula..tungggggggguuu...
